Craigslist Remodel

Craigslist was founded in 1995, initially started as an email chain to notify users of upcoming events - later evolved into a website. The site helps users in the same area communicate and exchange goods and services. There are millions of users for craigslist site but the website has high learnability, low efficiency, high memorability, and high error rate. This project focus on redesign and remodel the existing site by implementing UX design principles.

Click Test Results

ClickTest was conducted with users of the site by providing a goal and options to navigate to the goal by providing multiple choices based on the information from the current site. On an average only 67% of the users were able to finish the goal which clearly states the confusion in terminology and choice selection of the application.

Majority of the users were able to finish the tasks but they reported confusing and overlapping labels which resulted in slow navigation times.

Card sorting exercise gave more insight into people's mental models. It helped in evaluating existing design structures, design new information architecture, workflow, menu structure, and website navigation paths. Used hybrid card sorting technique by providing users with existing categories, and also allowing them to create their own categories.Limitations: Overlap of subcategories, labels not distinct when taken out of context. Results: Improve navigation and labels, conduct category specific sorting in future.
