hr-Anaytics site Remodel
The HR Analytics site is designed to empower HR professionals by streamlining their daily tasks. However, we've noticed limited user engagement due to usability challenges, leading to an increase in support tickets. Despite the UI limitations of SharePoint framework, our goal is to enhance the user experience and provide effective solutions within our current framework. We're committed to delivering the best results possible to support HR teams.
My Role: UX Research and UI Design

Project Overview
Problem Statement
The Talent Insights Team needs a one-stop shop to house everythingrelated to HR analytics, because quick and easy access to HR analyticsinformation helps HR business partners, HR managers, HR directors, HRVPs, and senior leaders make data-driven decisions. Currently, leadersmust go to Infor to access HR analytics, but the platform is limited in itscontents and the current page is not easily accessible.
UX Methodology
As a Research and UI Designer, I led the effort to improve the usability and user experience of an internal site used by the Analytics team. I proactively initiated a series of discovery meetings with key stakeholders to understand their workflows, pain points, and how they interacted with the site.
Following these conversations, I conducted a heuristic evaluation of the existing site to identify usability issues based on established design principles. This evaluation, combined with user feedback, revealed several challenges—including unclear navigation, inconsistent content layout, and difficulty locating frequently accessed resources.
My key contributions included:
-
Facilitating stakeholder interviews to gather qualitative insights and define user needs.
-
Performing a heuristic evaluation to uncover usability gaps and prioritize areas for improvement.
-
Designing wireframes and interactive prototypes that addressed the identified issues, focusing on clarity, consistency, and ease of use.
-
Collaborating with developers and content owners to ensure the final implementation aligned with both user expectations and technical feasibility.
The redesigned site significantly improved the user experience by streamlining access to key information, enhancing visual hierarchy, and reducing cognitive load. These changes empowered the Analytics team to navigate the site more efficiently and complete their tasks with greater confidence.
Research Findings

Apart from the findings from the Heuristic Evaluation, below are the other issues that were discovered during the research and interviews with stakeholders.
-
Not knowing what reports are located under each tile on the landing page: Users have to click through each tile to find reports they are looking for
-
Difficulty understanding report names: Users find some of the report names confusing
-
Difficulty with location names: Users feel that the location names on reports are not helpful
-
Trouble navigating between reports: Users have difficulty navigating between different reports
-
Lag time when accessing reports: Users speculated that this may be a result of large sets of data

Note: Some issues (like report location, lag time, and trouble navigation) seem to be happening in the INFOR site; the SharePoint site is using a global menu approach to locate reports; we may need to check with users after the new site is released to understand if the new approach has resolved the above issues.
New requests from users included:
-
Category explanations/directory: Users would like descriptions for each tile on the landing page and a breakdown of the contents within each category
-
Navigating between reports: Users would like to have the ability to navigate directly between different reports
-
More color: Users requested that the updated HR analytics landing page have more colors than black and white
